I'm growing tired of my long hair and need a change; I'm not waif enough to pull it off, anyway. I'm also sick of wearing my glasses(es) all the time, though it's been seven years since I've worn my contacts regularly.
I think I'm solid on deciding to chop it all off and go short again, like Mette, Hanna and Jagoda. But it's been a long 2+ years growing it out (it used to look like this, my man hair did, it did). I'm just afraid I'm going to regret it immediately, especially since I already look like a teenager and don't do shit to take care of it in the morning. Seriously, I dry it twice in a towel, comb it, and am out the door. Do I really have to be a grownup and straighten it?
Making an appointment to do the do! And it's time to break out the Opti-Free again.
Thoughts?

I'm in the middle of that 2-year growing out right now, starting from a pixie cut. Oh god it's annoying. But my main reason is not that I'll look so great with long long hair, but that soon I will be too old to have long long hair. But when (not if) I chop it off, I'll do an awesome Rihanna-style asymmetrical shaved look, fo sho. And maybe make some creepy hair jewelry to creep my friends and family out. My roommate tells me her mother had her hair made into an actual wearable HAIRPIECE, which I also find strangely awesome.
ReplyDeletei always regret cutting my hair short and yet i still do it. i'll say, never again! and start growing it out but then i get bored with it. i've been telling myself that i just need to get through the summer and come fall i'll be happy i didn't get the cut.
ReplyDeletethat style is cute though....good luck!
i want to cut my hair off so badly. i think i will stick out winter with long hair, then chop it off.
ReplyDeleteand i am a total flip-flop when it comes to contacts vs. glasses. right now it's contacts.
I think your hair so so cute long!!! It's also cute short (from the pictures) but I really like it long. I understand wanting to chop it all off though as it's so much easier. That's what I did in college though I had had really long hair every other time in my life.
ReplyDeleteI don't do anything to my hair - and I mean anything. I'm probably actively destroying it because of how I treat it and I never straighten it or anything fancy.
I want to cut mine, too. I miss short hair and while you do have to style it, it's short so it can be fast.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to grow my hair and it's taking a long time! I've always had short hair, ironically, though my face is super round and fat. Haha. Longer hair is too feminine for me and a lot of work, and I'm losing my patience. I never ever blowdry either, I just use a towel, comb, and go out until it dries by itself. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteYour manhair hahah haha, I liked it but maybe more of like a cute bob rather than manhair. :) I like long hair on you though.
I love this picture. I just cut my hair off last week! I have yet to take a photo though....man my life has been nuts lately.
ReplyDeleteI do love your long locks though.
dude i remember that hair. i remember being envious of you because i could never pull off hair that short and you totally did. so..

i like your long hair! but actually i think i look older with short hair. maybe i am delusional though.
ReplyDeleteHi, it's me in the photo and my hair is even shorter now! :) I really like it this way, but if I had really beautiful long hair I would think twice before cutting it.. Anyway, it's only hair and it grows :) best wishes from Poland!
ReplyDeleteI've been growing out my hair for years now, and I think all the time about cutting it all off, too! But for me short hair is more maintenance - when I have my hair long I just brush it and let it air dry - but short hair gets poofy for me!
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing photos with what you decide to do!
Michelle--oh my fucking god, like a headpiece of her own hair? right on right on...and I know what you mean...I DO NOT want to go pixie cut short again and then have it have to grow all the way back...I have to think abt this...OH! but I forgot the best part...I TOTALLY support the Rihanna do...I would like to see photos of this when it happens, por favor
ReplyDeleteNina--yeeeeeees, I'm the same way...I have FOREVER been the same way...my problem is that a new haircut never looks good on me...hair just doesn't jive w/my face, haha...but the long hair has been nice...siiigh.
Lauren--I just wish I wore my contacts and then broke out the glasses every so often, so they could seem more like an accessory I used occasionally instead of part of my face...but I'm so lazy...
Julia--hahaha I'm the same way! I feel like I'm killing my hair w/the way I comb it, and then for the first time the other week I actually look at its ends and noticed split ends...I had never known what they looked like before! and I have them! uggggh, I feel dirty.
Kim--YES! my short hair was so easy to air dry, etc...I miss that abt it
Eunice--I think your hair looks super cute now! I can't wait to see it longer! and you dress super feminine, so who cares??! and yeah, the man hair thing is more or less a defense mechanism, since it wasn't super cute like it would be on other faces...& one traffic cop did call me a dude from afar before he realized I was a chick...wah wahhhh
Kate--you did???! I want to see pictures!
Laura--hahahahah that picture made me laugh
Lexie--no, I totally agree, short hair does make you look older...except on me haaaah
Jagoda--uuuggggh, man, now I'm really rethinking this! I can't decide! and thank you so much for dropping a line (all the way from Poland), b/c I love that picture (and your Flickr)!
Jess--YEEEEEES, my short hair gets poofy, too! which is why I'm torn here, because my long hair is so flat and nice...CAN'T DECIDE!
Is it short yet?!? Is it short yet?!?
ReplyDeleteI'm a strictly above-the-shoulders haircut kind of gal. My hair is too thin & stringy & nast when I grow it out. I think you'd look SUPER CUTE with a thick, brown little chin-length bob with bangs. Or something. Although, that's basically my exact haircut, except with the thin, crappy version of hair, so maybe I'm projecting my own hair-asthetic onto you...? Either way, I bet you could manage to get a pretty layer-free cut that doesn't require much styling and will still look short & awesome. What if you go more shoulder length so that it's not such a big change. And then if you love that you can go shorter? Either way, I can't wait to see how it turns out!! You're going to look freaking CUTE either way!
