ReplyDeletei was really surprised that mondo didn't win. personally, i liked gretchen's clothes way more and agreed w/ the judges that her clothes were way more current. but, as much as i wanted to root for a hometown girl, mondo just came across as waaaay more likable. his expression after they announced that gretchen won was priceless--he totally looked like he had been robbed.
oh, and jessica simpson as a judge, wtffffff?
One of my good friends in Portland is friends with Gretchen ... but I was rooting for Mondo all the way, I love his looks!! *sigh.

ReplyDeletea) I totally agree that Mondo was WAYYYYYYY more likeable, Jennifer, and b) I think he has a perspective that's not as predictable as Gretchen's...not that I don't love her clothes, but sometimes I feel like I adhere to a certain clothing vibe more than I want to, and I feel like that applies to her, as well...they're nice clothes, but nothing new...and I didn't see his face! I need to watch it again, especially since I think I missed the parts in the reunion thing where they were trash talking her...my tv was effing up...and Jessica Simpson looked like a fat cow...she's really let herself go, and her comments were pointless...that show needs to get some legit judges soon...
and Jess, you have all these fashionable friends! or friends of friends...(I'm also referencing your friend from Inventory, I believe) I wonder if she's that much of a bitch all the time...find that out for me, haha
haha, I hope that didn't come off as bragging! I really wonder what she's like in person, but I am not sure that I could get a real answer from said friend because she loves her. But actually, I do have another friend who casually knows her (Portland is small, what can I say) and she told me that she was totally that much of a bitch in person. I like having the Northwest represented, but .... I really just love Mondo!

I don't get it ... why is Gretchen a bitch? I don't really think she was any bitchier than the others, she just didn't bother me at all (as opposed to, say, Ivy or April, who could be just plain mean.) Plus I really liked Gretchen's aesthetic, for the most part. People are really outraged w. the outcome - and [saying in my best Tim Gunn voice] I am frankly bewildered.
ReplyDeleteVictoria--I don't mean to make a whole hellabaloo abt her and her personality, since it really doesn't make much of a difference (and as you said, there were a bunch of bitches in that show, like Ivy...though I liked April, haha, but oh well)...and I didn't watch the first few episodes of the show this season, but something abt her in particular didn't sit well with me...my biggest pet peeve is ppl being inconsiderate of other ppl's feelings, and that episode where she went batshit crazy on the catwalk over Michael C, leading the charge in tearing him apart? and then Tim Gunn saying afterwards that he couldn't believe that all the others allowed her to manipulate them? I just found her behavior to be disgusting. and I know it's a competition, so every man for himself. but perhaps that's why I hated competitive sports as a child, slash try to avoid competition w/friends/classmates, etc. And I can't stand ppl who make everything abt themselves. But that is just me, and who really cares abt my stance on the matter...I just found her behavior throughout the show to be particularly reprehensible, especially when you compare her demeanor with someone as considerate and kind as Mondo. That's all, and I'm done with it.
