Someone in education reform needs to infiltrate the government and mandate the death of this, paying to take tests just to get an education. That's right: I'm for big government. I ain't got no time for anti-federalism right now, dudez. And if A-Ham was still alive, I'd be the first groupie of that first Secretary of the Treasury. What a hunk.
Though I'm quite glad I don't have to sit for the CPA exam like my brother, which costs $900+. Better hope you don't have to retake that one, buddy.
I'll end there before I digress further into my disdain for standardized testing. Or lust for early post-colonial American politicians.

Ah. It's so dumb. I just had to pay to get my AP test scores sent to my college so I could graduate. Now, I'm studying to take the LSAT in Dec. Hope that's a one time deal.
ReplyDeleteI hope your Praxis exam went well. BTW Im super jealous that you get to teach history. I FUCKING LOVE HISTORY!
agreed agreed agreed
ReplyDeletei couldn't agree with your more sister! have i mentioned how lame little me wrote her college entrance essay on why standardized testing is meaningless? i may have been a lame and silly little teen, but i still agree with myself, haha!
ReplyDeleteyeah, dude, I passed the two Praxis II's I was cramming for--THANK GOD. I'm still waiting to hear abt the last part of the Praxis I I took, but I passed the first two parts of that one, too...though I have THE BIG ONE in a month, the history one, which my sister said was a bitch, and she was a history major...though I studied my ass off in AP Euro in high school and got a 5 on that test so that I could beat her 4, which no doubt was a MAJOR BLOW, hahah, though we are past that crap now...and DUDE! none of my fucking AP scores counted at NYU b/c I didn't major in any of those disciplines...what a waste of $...but good luck on the LSAT...I'm sure you'll do greeeeeat!
ReplyDeleteand, YES, I cannot wait to be doing proper history again...that was always my academic love, and I was majoring in it in undergrad (well, along w/journalism, the more practical route), but then I was a bitch and broke up with it for art history...WHAT WAS I THINKING????
and, Julia, I remember that you told me this! amen, sister! at least you wrote something of purpose...one of our prompts was writing abt how you and your friends would make a good tv show, so I did that...I reread it a few years ago and it was overly peppered with big words, trying to make me sound intelligent...I'm convinced the rest of my application got me in, b/c that thing was a major bomb.
OMG, I thought I was the only one who's got a hard-on for Alexander Hamilton. Finest dude on our currency... when is the movie coming out???
ReplyDeleteduuuude, I totally developed a crush on him when working at the National Portrait Gallery, initially only superficially from this portrait...who wouldn't bang that??? and I love bastards!
