Tuesday

look what I was re-gifted!

This cat was originally purchased by my mom's crazy-cat-lady employee, who at one time pushed her (five) cats around her neighborhood in a stroller. For "exercise." Now she has a bigger house and a cat room. But apparently this robotic cat freaked out one of her real cats, so he/she IS MINE.

Now, when you're watching this video, keep in mind that's not me meowing. It's the cat. I'm chuckling, and there is some background noise, but the meowing is all him/her. He/she also purrs. I'm also taking suggestions for names/proposed genders, since this cat is awesome and I'm keeping him/her.

Edit: Apparently when you pet him/her, this prompts the robot cat to move. But I experimented with this and it's more like a hard stroke on the back. That sounds/feels gross, so I'll stick to letting him/her move on his/her own.

Monday

erin considine sale

Good news for all that expressed an interest in the Wick necklace I got from Erin! The necklace--in addition to a bunch of her other wares--are on super sale in her shop for the rest of this week. So act quickly, as she departs for the land of croissants and baguettes this weekend (for a whole month! jealous...).

Sunday

my eibel dress

I was lucky enough to snag one of Ilana's Eibel dresses before they sold out. I can't wait to be back in a school, man, so I can wear the dress (and the outfit I created around it) around all those hot male teachers. Totally adorable and boy-magnetic.

I love the dress' details, especially the buttons. And the ikat print, obviously.

Yesterday I dragged Jennifer and her beau into her neighborhood Am Appy so I could buy some cheap knee socks to complete the ensemble. It was up for debate whether or not the chick at the register was wearing a bra under her lace dress; we concluded that she was not. I think that choice was her means of passively flirting with her coworker, Andrew (who was pretty hot, hence why I remembered his name), or maybe that's really how all Am Appy employees roll.

I will spare you the sight of my bare fat thighs and me wearing the dress with socks, as that region of my body does not photograph well. I should really stick to just stockings. But just know that the knee socks and the Eibel dress go really well with Hasbeens. And a swell grey cardigan.
Oh, and Ilana's having a sale on what's left in her shop through tonight! Check out her blog for the deets. I'm soooo tempted by the Two-Tone Emily dress, ugh, it kills me...

Friday

"A self-initiated series of posters dedicated to a few of my favorite things; Hubble telescope photographs of celestial bodies (thanks be to the NASA Image of the Day Gallery) and cats.

"Prints for sale soon."

They are now available here!

Thursday

so confused, but feeling better now

1. did some random googling today.
2. remember Mr. B? Summer and I never could find him online. well, today I said to myself, hey, I know the name of his fiance. I'll google them both.
3. found his Facebook.
4. saw picture of him kissing his bride on their wedding day. apparently they're married now.
5. was real sad, dudez.
6. listened to a bunch of Celine Dion. and some "unbreak my heart."
7. after lunch, decided to re-google them.
8. saw more pictures from their wedding. she's pretty adorable, though totes mainstream. and seeing him smile reminds me of all the good times from last year.
9. feel happy for them. genuinely not mad/sad anymore.
10. going back to listening to Justin Biebs and being an unofficial teeny-bopper. gonna find my "somebody to love" one day, just like the Biebs says.

Wednesday

favorite rap lyric of the day

Use it in the future to describe how awesome you are.

Sunday

trade-sies!

Okay, I'm back. Feel like I've neglected my child here, but like Don Draper, I'm back for Baby Gene's birthday party. Stuffed ponies and hugs for everybody!

Anywho, LoGE has been good to me over the past month. I made some trades with two of my favorite designers for some things I posted over there. Shhhh, don't tell anybody, but I think I got the better end of each deal. Julia made me my very own Gables Satchel, and it's soft like buttah. I love it. Laaaave it. Especially its color, which I fell for when I saw Julia's satchel of the same/similar color in person (more accurate in the last picture). I foresee the two of us sharing many adventures together.

Erin also sent me her Wick necklace, which I'm absolutely crazy for with its dyed cotton and brass details (one of which I've been adjusting at will for different looks). I predict we'll be very good friends, as well. I'm also looking forward to Erin's upcoming collection...very much so...

Thursday

Been awhile. Miss you guys.

This week, I've preoccupied myself with:
Buying my 110th item on Etsy. Really excited abt this one.
Listening to this crap.
Stumbling upon the coolest blog header ever.
Wishing I could be a Super Ginge on Halloween. And every day thereafter.
Stalking my favorite people to anonymously stalk on the internet. Now I'm only doing it semi-anonymously.
Discovering the perfect Fall 2010 outfit.

Aside from that, my mother told me today I'm starting to look fat, I somehow have a mosquito bite on my butt, and I might need to acquire a Valium for Saturday. Waiting for this week to be over.

Saturday

whad up

Taking a break from studying to return to my guilty habit: this thing. Hey. I had killer plans with this cool cat to go up to NY this wknd for Fashion's Night Out, but we both had to cancel due to our respective workloads. So this is how I took a break from the cramming last night: ginger and creamsicle-like broth. At least that's what my poor palette has always likened the latter to. Better when you ingest them simultaneously; party in your mouth.

And this sums up all the noteworthy moments in my life from this past week:

Jam: The Ting Tings, "Impacilla Carpisung"

And as I'm going to continue this two-week no-blogging thing (not including today), here is a link for each day of the next week I will be m.i.a.:

- a blog for people like me
- Nina and Chaz's experiment, "Consumer Whore No More" (meant to blog abt this awhile ago, but you know...)
- I never knew such a museum existed, via Kate's amazing American roadtrip
- a unique perspective, via Diane
- colorful and affordable watches, via Mallory
- in Boston? looking for a new apt/roommate? EUNICE NEEDS YOU.
- and Being a Dickhead's Cool

Back to my hole. After I catch up on some emails in my much-neglected inbox.

But first, via Lulu:

Monday

All good things must come to an end. Back to the grind.

Ba-dum-dum.

I'm taking a self-imposed blogging ban for the next two weeks b/c I just realized ystdy that I have to take two Praxis II exams in two weeks and essentially have to re-teach myself the human development and intro to special ed classes I took as an undergrad. Oh yeah, and like all of my primary/secondary education. I am going to be all cocoon-like, except I'll make an appearance at work and by the refrigerator.

I am so fuuuuuucked.

from Frl.Zucker's Flickr. have I mentioned how badly I want for her to design my next tattoo? yes, I have.

Saturday

I know it's still somewhat early to be thinking about the chilly weather of Fall, but just wanted to put out there that I'm now selling my Shaybelle Carpenter Dress over on LoGE for less than half of what I originally paid for it. I'm pretty sure it's a wool blend of some kind, so it's super warm. More deets here.

Oh, and I just posted a pair of Diesel booties on LoGE, as well.

And I'm being extra lazy today and will respond to comments from yesterday later in the wknd. Have to go clean a bathroom now. Have a lovely holiday wknd (to all in the States, that is)!

Friday

fuckyeahgingerbeards

And sometimes I wonder where this blog went wrong.
It goes without saying that I would totally willingly bone a number of these guys.

Thursday

the little tramp!

Thanks to Julie, I am now obsessed with MAC's latest collab...with Disney, mo fo's! With Disney! And I'm sure there are people out there that think it's lame for a 24-year-old to still watch the Disney Channel, but you know what? I'll say it: I'll be watching the premiere of Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam tomorrow night instead of going out, and I don't care. That's how I do.

Aside from totally buying a thing of blush so I can have the face of a Disney villain in my makeup pouch (should mention the collection's villain-themed), I will most definitely be buying at least the first two of the following nailpolishes when the collection is launched online on the 27th:

The photos are ginormous, I know, but you just have to see those colors.

But where the hell is Ursula? She is my favorite Disney villain, and they've replaced her with that dude from that frog movie that came out a year ago. He's not Disney royalty! And, hello: everything in Ursula's collection could be lilac and purple. It's so obvious.

Sweet Dreams

I absolutely adore the limited edition necklaces made by some very talented ladies that are now available on Bakers Dozen. Marta's bunting and Amy's cubes especially have caught my eye.

Wednesday

speaking of Ilana...

...one of my celebratory auf-wiedersehen-credit-card-debt purchases was a dress from Ilana's past collection, the Megan Dress. Hello! The dress is no longer for sale but I just wanted to mention it because I am in laaaave (as Kate would say) with its details. And it makes me look skinny HAH. It fits so perfectly that I am all the more eager to purchase one of the pieces from Ilana's current collection due to her craftsmanship.

And sorry all I have is a boob shot for you guys. I photographed the bottom half of the dress, too, but I couldn't get the pictures to focus at a distance (you know, that whole "focusing, then walking to where you stand, then going back to check on the small screen" thing...I was too lazy to persist); I don't get how all those girls do it on those style blogs! Oh, and I'm wearing my favorite go-to necklace! By Julia! It goes with everything.

And I am officially copying Anabela and using her comment format from here on out (including my responses to comments in a post the following day), mostly because I'm lazy and horrible at commenting in a timely manner on both my blog and other people's blogs. Everybody's comments make my day, and sometimes I feel like a bum when I take forever to write back (because I am a bum). You guys are the best internet friends a girl could have!

overheard in my office this morning / vol. 2

On Grecian monuments:

"That must be neat, to see all those ruins and stuff."

"Yeah, that's where they went. My son-in-law's a big history guy."

"Yeah, I love shit like that."
