Wednesday

holyshitassmotherfucker.

BDiH got a mention today in the Huffington Post. Sheeeeeeet, man, that's major (like, I have my own Huffington Post tag now...). I knew something was awry when I checked my stats and I had 6,000-and-counting page loads for the day. That does not happen to these here blogs of mine.

Little afraid of what people are going to think about the side project, since I know I'm not really that hilarious, but whatever. It's all about paying homage to those deceased sexbots.

On another note, I'm moving on Saturday (it seems like everybody is this month...) to a sweet ass apartment in University City--two whole bedrooms for me and me only. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited. I'm working on the internet situation, slash I don't really have anything interesting to post about. Strike that: I have something pretty sweet to blog about that I received, and I will try to get on that a.s.a.p. Until then, I bid ado...

Thursday

to you and your kin

Happy holidays, both to everyone who will be celebrating in a few days and to everyone who has already celebrated.

And if you happen to be in your hometown this weekend--and you find yourself unattached--may you slay that hot dude or lady from high school that got away. I'm rooting for you.

Saturday

They call me Triangle.

The other shapes don't dare fuck with me because of my trio of sharp vertices and occasional collusion with the Pythagorean theorem.
squared bookbag by boyfren/girlfren, spike ring by Plum Jewelry via the very helpful Camilla at Thistle & Clover (though I got mine in silver...unfortunately I couldn't pony up the cash for the yellow gold)

And this has nothing to do with anything, but Butters kept getting in my photos. He was quite bewildered by the sound of my camera's shutter.

Friday

this is how I want to dress every day from here on out

I passed my tests, put in my two weeks, and am apartment hunting this weekend. Now if only I could afford to buy a new dress, I'd be getting my teacher chic on sttttttt-AT. But don't worry, little Hidden Spectrum jumper, you will soon be mine...

Look out, kiddies, Ms. B's coming!

Saturday

Glass Cluster Ring

I did a sort of trade with Arlie of Urban Revisions and she was kind enough to send me her Glass Cluster Ring, which has been garnering some serious press in the past month. And it's now being stocked at Need Supply, which is pretty legit. I am seriously impressed with the ring's craftsmanship, and it fits in so well with my current Ice Princess-Bitch mentality. That is, that I'm wearing white nailpolish and it's winter. And the weather is making me moody. But the ring is really quite lovely, Arlie.

And I've finally accepted the fact that my hands and fingers will never be photogenic (so I hope their presence here does not offend your eyes too greatly). But how ever will I make my money when my looks and figure go?!?!?

Wednesday

Handmade Holidays

I swore I wouldn't do a holiday gift guide, but there are so many awesome things out there that must be blogged about! Not that they haven't been already, but what follows are my top ten favorite handmade items (at present). And it just so happens to be the holiday season, so...whatever. Enjoy the jumbled array of photos and support the handmade market! But you already knew/do that...

P.S. Someone please send this list to my $ugardaddy. He works at the local $tarbucks and doesn't know I've been stalking the place regularly since he first took my order last Thursday (too bad that was the only time I've seen him...). I can only buy so many salted caramel hot chocolates before going broke...
Twisty peaches duo cupcake desert plates, atelierBB. I've wanted these for years, and plan on buying some (and many more atelierBB wares) in the new year when I have cash $. Ugh, the wait...
Pouch in distressed kelly green lambskin leather, rennes. We all know Julia (!) has been on a roll lately (especially with her chateau duffle bag), and this piece has to be my favorite from her current collection. My favorite color! And the lambskin leathers she uses are soooo soft...
Ruth Anne Cacahuette, ninon. Want. Her.
Happy couple of salt and pepper shakers, Heidi Burton. I need new salt and pepper shakers, and these are so obviously awesome.
Short skirt in Electric Garden Print, Ermie. I know I am not alone in loving Jennifer's premiere collection; those textiles are just so gorgeous! And if I had to narrow down the options and just choose one piece--which would be very hard indeed--it would be this skirt.
Moonshine bottle, small stump. In honor of Repeal Day!
Peachy, PomLove. The pom-pom array in Laura's kitchen made me jealous...
YES morse coded necklace, COATT (found via jokemijn). It's in MORSE CODE! HELLO?!
Beary, the faux shaggy long pile bearskin rug, Two String Jane. Even though I think I'd be a little sketched out by the "bear's" face (as I would never want to own a real fur...and it might throw me off in moments of inebriation), I love its kitsch.
Cardboardpennant multicolored, WEEKDAYCARNIVAL (found via Mallory). This will be in my shopping cart come pay day. And it's super affordable! And a lot nicer than any pennant I've made...

And a few others:

Tuesday

Becca Stadtlander, pt. 2

I've been contemplating taking a break from my print hoarding and buying some legit original artwork. Some canvas and vellum. I'm hoping that within the next few months I'll be able to save up some cash and maybe commission something, and I really want a piece of Becca's work. "The Girl in Green" has to be one of my favorites yet; the combo of media is just too good.

Sunday

why I stayed up late (again) last night

I was captivated by Mozilla's Firefox Live, where you can watch various live feeds of red pandas (b/c apparently the red panda is the basis for the Firefox name/logo, not the fox...I did not know this). Snuggle and his/her roommate were my favorites. Frolic bored me. Of course they were sleeping for the most part from 1-3 a.m., but whatever.

I also got caught up in/on the Duke Sex Scandal 2.0, about two months after it all happened (this is a better version of the PPT, though the article is sans background info). I wish I could be offered a book deal for such shitty writing. I would totally have that covered.

And then I needed to watch some videos of cats and puppies to make me feel like less of a degenerate for reading in detail about some undergrad's extracurriculars (also a reminder to self to watch what I put on here...ahem, sagas...). Kind of feel bad for the puppies, though, since their momma is clearly a babe herself and not inclined to sharing/playing nice.

This was all after an evening of catching up on the current Degrassi plot/cast and watching the shittacular movie that is The Box on HBO. The former just never lets me go, even after a two-year viewership absence and cast members now 6-10 years my junior; the latter might have been watchable w/o all that alien crap.

I'm so glad I can finally have two consecutive days off and do these things. It almost makes me feel like a normal person with a normal work schedule who has totally normal interests.

Saturday

under the boardwalk, down by the sea...

I'd like to share an anecdote: senior year of high school my friends and I spent a lot of our last semester fixating on a film, one that won us over more so with its soft porn scenes than its muddled plot and dialogue. The Dreamers was the first (and probably only) NC-17 movie I saw in theatres, and I felt so naively badass not being carded the two times I went to see it (I was a few months shy of 18 at the time). Yeah, Theo was hot, but, duuuuude, then began my imaginary love affair with Michael Pitt. I would. Hit. That shit. Anytime.
I had no idea, then, that Michael Pitt was in HBO's Boardwalk Empire. When my mom first watched the show's opening credits, she saw his name and asked, "Michael Pitt, is that Brad Pitt's brother?" No, woman, I have only loved this man for the past six years. Plus a billion other dudes, but whatever.

And so continues my love affair with HBO programming! Not only is the history enthralling, it's kind of refreshing being able to "watch" an America ripe with foreign accents; my grandfather immigrated to the US from Ireland around that time, so perhaps that's part of the reason why my favorite character (behind Richard Harrow) is Margaret Schroeder. And the fashions, holyballz, the fashions!
And wouldn't you know, the season finale this Sunday is happening on the anniversary of the repealing of the 18th Amendment. Guess who'll be watching with a beer in one hand and her flask in the other? This girl. God Bless Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and God Bless America!

P.S. Who's been watching the show? Conspiracy theories for the finale? *spoilers* Where'd Margaret go? Will Jimmy throw his baby's mamma out on the street? How will Van Alden cover up Sebso's murder? Who's gonna be murdered? B/c we all know someone's gonna die.

P.P.S. If you're in Philly on Sunday, celebrate Repeal Day at The Franklin, starting at 5 p.m. Go-go-America! Hu-ah! Just sad I can't go b/c I have work on Monday... booooo...

P.P.P.S. I'm finally reading this book, and it's juicy. Oh, so juicy.

Wednesday

boyfren/girlfren

I believe it was Kate who first posted about the clothes of boyfren/girlfren. Well, Lil's just updated her Etsy shop and I pretty much want everything in there. She finds/repurposes the coolest fabrics...
Oh, and did I mention she ships for free w/in the US? Total win.
