Turns out I didn't lose my USB cord for my camera in the packing/unpacking. It was right there in my camera box, logically placed but illogically ignored.
I fished it out to document some of the newish hand candy I've acquired over the past few months (forgive me for some repetition): Plum Jewelry (mine's silver, ordered from the designer via Thistle & Clover), Dream Collective, vintage (pinky ring!), and vintage. I apologize for the random sweater hair in the latter; I was wearing it the other day and it got caught on everything. And everyone should really buy the DC Braille ring; it's fantastic and works on so many different fingers.
I've also been rewatching the first two seasons of Skins over the past few weeks. I still can't believe they made an American version that's, uh, essentially taken verbatim from the original (at least that's what it seems in the previews for the pilot). But curiosity may get the best of me and I may tune in. Btw, did anyone watch the third season? Did they ever mention what happened to Sid/Cassie/everyone, or must we still surmise? I really wish Chris hadn't, you know... Don't want to ruin it for anybody...again.

I'm in love with that spiked ring!
ReplyDeleteit really is rad...though I wish I had the $ at the time to put out for the yellow gold...they looked more like pyramids than spikes in that material, when I tried it on at the T&C shop, and I love anything that reminds me of that bygone dream of becoming an Egyptologist...
ReplyDeleteI finished season 3 of Skins last month. No mention of Sid and Cassie. BOO HISS!
ReplyDeleteThe first cast was better in my opinion, but season 3 still sucks you in!
so is season 3 worth watching? I find it more scandalous (for me to watch it) the bigger the age discrepancy b/t me and the cast...I mean, it's not like it's Degrassi, where stuff happens but you don't really see anything...and I hate how teenagers these days are making me feel old and prudish! ahhhh, what happened to my youth????
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time understanding British accents sometimes (I need subtitles, ha!), so I am really excited about the American Skins!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love the Braille ring.
makes sense, my friend
ReplyDeleteI gave up on skins halfway through the second season. It was way too depressing/implausible. Plus, it worried me a little bit about how vicious/slutty everyone was.
ReplyDeleteI imagine the american version will be equally depressing/implausible...but for different reasons.
Have you seen Misfits? If not, you should! It's pretty much the best thing ever, and Totally Epic British TV.
damn, girl. that is one impressive ring collection!
ReplyDeleteI love the last two, especially the turquoise one.
ReplyDeletec+v--I was thinking the same thing when I was watching the rest of the 2nd season this wknd! I was like, dammmmmn, why did they let everything turn to shit that season? the first was so good...and, yeah, I don't know if I can take the teenage drama when it's poured on that thickly...and I second your sentiments w/the american version, more so for me b/c I don't want to see american kids partaking in such debauchery...the similar accent makes it seem so much more scandalous...plus, I just assume that all Euro teens get to go to cool teen clubs or something...in my ill-informed dreamworld...and I have not seen Misfits! I shall add it to the queue! and, btw, I was recommended "Pulling" after I did my first Skins post a few months ago...not a teen drama, but another ace Britcom...
ReplyDeleteJ--yeeeeeeeeah, gurrrrrrl, you know it!
Taylor--that one's my favorite, too! it also has a lovely shade of green in it, in addition to the turquoise...quite the find
that braille ring is beauty.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing :)
I LOVEEEEEEE the ring collection.
ReplyDeleteand skins season 1 UK version was THE BEST.
skins season 1 US version looks like it will NOT be the best.
i was mildly.. majorly... dissapointed with episode one. but will probably be guilty of being an avid viewer.
I love the sweater hair! Hahaha.
ReplyDeleteHow's the new place?!? SO AWESOME??
lindsay--I watched the US version and it was okay, but how can you essentially do it shot-by-shot of the original and expect it to be good?! that's what I don't get abt the creators, as they're writing the US version, as well...maybe they just want to make some cash$...but, like you, I will probably continue watching...if only I was 17 again, b/c stanley's pretty hot...AHHHH, I'm going to hell.
ReplyDeletelindsaaaaaay--dude, it's awwwwesome! it's so nice to be living alone again, but this time w/the internet (slash someone else's internet connection that actually functions for me)...I even have a "study;" I feel like I'm in the Clue house...
A STUDY?!? That rulezzz.
ReplyDeleteyeeeeeah...I need to get myself a smoking jacket now.
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with Skins, about halfway through season three, they never mention Sid and Cassie (who were by FAR my favorite characters) and the verdict about season three seems to be that it's much trashier. Also none of the new characters are all that likeable. I watched the first episode of American Skins and the acting is wooden and atrocious. Plus, they made Maxxie a hot female cheerleader, I'm assuming to appeal to dudes.
ReplyDeletegood to know, Jenny! I can't really stand how skanky they make Effy out to be, so I'm glad I've never watched it digress even further in the 3rd season...and I saw the first episode of the US version (plus part of the cheerleader episode before my internet connection majorly slowed)! Maxxie was one of my favorite characters; I don't dig that decision...at all...
