I'm Bored, Part I

There was something very important I was supposed to finish this past weekend, but, no, I didn't finish it. Instead, I played this game to see if I was civilized enough to survive society in the Victorian era. The Canadian Victorian era, I later found out.
You could choose to role play as either a man or woman. Being faithful to the sex, I initially chose the latter. However, I faired better score-wise as a man; I think their questions were easier/had more obvious solutions.
Among the invaluable information to be garnered is that women risked being run over by carriage if they chose the wrong ensemble for the activity specified. This happened to me once, only because I wasn't looking and clicked the wrong picture. Fail.
And if you attempted to placate an anxious cousin--whom no man wanted to dance with at the "Fancy Ball"--by dancing with her yourself, you'd risk being labeled a lesbian. Okay, fine, I don't need a man. But you might also refuse a man in dancing the quadrille if you didn't know the steps, as you'd be lacking in propriety if you willingly caused chaos on the dance floor.

Somehow I survived and made it into high society, though I think that was a misjudgment on the game's part. I was also pretty impressed by the game's animation, in light of the seemingly small size of the museum it belongs to (I mean, the website of one of the Smithsonian's I interned at is so ghetto). That being said, you must play it with your speakers on. You'll quickly understand why.

  2. Yay for Canadian History!... enhhh. The most boring year of high school social studies ever.
In any case, I'm not sure if I can bring myself to play a game with all its titles in Apple Chancery font. I want to pick inappropriate ensembles, though.

  3. we never really learned about Canadian history in school, which is probably why I massively failed at basic Canadian geography on GeoSafari...and the font is pretty sad, but the way they've animated it is legit, I swear...and at first I assumed they were in Britain, but then they mentioned taking a train to Niagara Falls, and I was like waaaaaah? my mind just chose to ignore that the Victorian era also took place in Canada
