I just saw this post on Gracie's blog and thought of my mom (and you, too, Emily, b/c of your familial maritime tattoos). I think I'm getting all emotional for no reason because it's almost that time of the month. UGH/TMI/UGH. Plus I feel devoid of feeling after daily dealings with angry/angsty teenagers and crotchety old women. SPRING BREAK???
Be in the same hormonal spirit and give the next person you see (that you know and like) a hug! Blog spam.
I'm now going to phone meine Mutti whilst smothering the day's memories in a jovial roll-around-in-the-new-clothes-that-are-piled-on-my-bed.

Some new things around these parts, z.B.:
No. 1 Some painted blocks from How Now Design. They match the header.
No. 2 After a year of coveting, I finally bought the Yellow Owl Workshop Camp Correspondence Set. Now all I need is a summer camp to sign up for that takes twentysomethings...
No. 3 Two lovely, little necklaces from Chelsea's Lovely, Little Shop (mermaid and natural mystic). The beads are just the right size and the colors are perfect for the season. P.S. Go to Chelsea's shop for a 15% discount code.
No. 4 Not new--but per request--is my mm/mg stationary collection (plus my Choo Choo cat planner). Bought most of the mm/mg stuff from Penelope's. The mini planner is the best planner I've ever had.
No. 5 Time to bring back the spring/summer nailpolish combinations, per the weather. Please excuse the chipping.

Tuesday
Today on the way home from work, a dude sat in front of me on the train that had pretty decent style, and thus I imagined was probably at least somewhat hot. He was wearing a knit hat, a polyester-esque varsity jacket (or whatever material those cheap, shiny ones are made out of), fitted jeans, and decent sneakers. It was only when he started playing with his hat that I realized he was super-ass old, like at least in his 70's...
I need a new glasses prescription. I also need to reevaluate my taste in men.
Secondly: True Blood needs to come back on soon. All this talk of adopting a dog and naming him Beeeeeell is making me anxious.
Omg, better yet: naming the dog "Sam." Bahahahaha.
Monday
I'm Bored, Part I
There was something very important I was supposed to finish this past weekend, but, no, I didn't finish it. Instead, I played this game to see if I was civilized enough to survive society in the Victorian era. The Canadian Victorian era, I later found out.
You could choose to role play as either a man or woman. Being faithful to the sex, I initially chose the latter. However, I faired better score-wise as a man; I think their questions were easier/had more obvious solutions.
Among the invaluable information to be garnered is that women risked being run over by carriage if they chose the wrong ensemble for the activity specified. This happened to me once, only because I wasn't looking and clicked the wrong picture. Fail.
And if you attempted to placate an anxious cousin--whom no man wanted to dance with at the "Fancy Ball"--by dancing with her yourself, you'd risk being labeled a lesbian. Okay, fine, I don't need a man. But you might also refuse a man in dancing the quadrille if you didn't know the steps, as you'd be lacking in propriety if you willingly caused chaos on the dance floor.
Somehow I survived and made it into high society, though I think that was a misjudgment on the game's part. I was also pretty impressed by the game's animation, in light of the seemingly small size of the museum it belongs to (I mean, the website of one of the Smithsonian's I interned at is so ghetto). That being said, you must play it with your speakers on. You'll quickly understand why.
Sunday
a melange of random
No. 1 A poorly focused photo of the poster Erin was kind enough to make for me. It hangs above my bed and nicely fills that wall's void. But my shitty photo looks better upside-down, so there you go.
No. 2 I love Michelle's photography, and was lucky enough to win a photo of my choosing from her a few months ago. Clearly I need to buy a frame for my South African hipster. I also need to get started on that hot dude wall you recommended, Michelle.
No. 3 I was super-lucky-part-two to win a rain jacket from ET AL., ETC. via Ăˆvita. The jacket is airy and quite soft to the touch, and I'm looking forward to finally wearing it in the warmer weather. It'll go nicely with a certain shark print this Spring...
Saturday
I brought home another cat (slash owl)
I can die now, I have a piece of Kiki Smith in my apartment.
--
I dragged Jennifer to the Fabric Workshop and Museum gift shop, after coveting Julia's fabric score from the same shop for the past few months. I thought I had settled on a pillow in the same print, but then I saw something that I had wanted for awhile, something I had wanted real bad: a multiple of Kiki's Owl and Pussycat flip doll, which she created in collaboration with the Museum in 2002. Kiki is, after all, my favorite living artist. So I put out for he/she and now here the hybrid sits before me. I'm naming her Sheila, even though I know/assume either the owl or the cat has to be a male, as it's based on a poem from 1871 about two animals in love. Or maybe Lear was ahead of his time.

And if I had a Tumblr, I would have re-posted this already (via one of my favorite Tumblrs).
Wednesday
daaaaaaaang, girl
The thought that went through my mind after I saw the images from Hannah's S/S 2011 lookbook. I would sell a kidney for that Sunday Dress.
Monday
Lupo in DC
In light of working an overnight at one of my former museum gigs in DC, I was able to get away and partake in a weekend of: defacing playgrounds (a habit I cannot break), tattoo parlors, my favorite froyo, a friend's banana-loving bulldogs, and animal shelters (a.k.a. futilely falling in love with a dog who is being adopted by someone else).
I also finally saw Black Swan and--much to my chagrin--really liked it. Nevertheless, I still think Natalie Portman is a blah actress and didn't deserve the Oscar. Haters gonna hate.
Oh, and one of my students turned me on to Mamba fruit chews. She calls them "ghetto candy," but I just googled them and they come from Germany, so......

I do feel somewhat foolish posting this amidst the situation in Japan, especially with what's now going on in Fukushima. Some awesome people on Etsy are donating percentages of their wares to relief efforts--N.E.E.T. has a list of some here, in addition to Jessica's shop--as is Steven Alan.
Wednesday
Sparkly Pony
It's been awhile since I've seen an Etsy store infused with this much wit and charm.
No. 1 Whale Tissue Holder
No. 2 Boyfriend in a Bottle (which looks much like an encapsulated boy band)
No. 4 Social Network Minions ("mixed demographic")
Friday
it's time, IT'S TIME
I've been slowly dying the past few months, waiting ever so anxiously for the Dusen Dusen Spring 2011 collection...and the time is almost now. The shark print is almost upon us! The triangles and the blue vertical lines! And the new amazeball versions of the DD backpacks!
Ellen's doing pre-orders for March 15th from her shop, but if you can't wait till then a few pieces are available now on Urban's website. You'll make me super jealous if you do the latter and post about it...
All of the photos are screenshots from Urban's website...and don't tell my mother, but I plan on buying (at least) these three pieces : D
Thursday
random and random number generators
I venture: the funniest scene in a network sitcom, Married...with Children episode 0411. The episode in which a bite from Steve's Peruvian Devil Gerbil gives Marcy a hump and an eye twitch. This show has been the means of catharsis to many a recent post-work evening.
In other news, I was shocked, SHOCKED by the number of people who stated they preferred Beast Beast over Human Beast. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE??? Or maybe there's something wrong with me and my apparent preference for Fabio lookalikes. But bestiality, dudes, bestiality.
And in related news to that news, the random number generator has spoken and--would you believe it?--chose number 1! Thus the boyfren/girlfren people pouch goes to simple things! We shall be in touch!
And I really appreciated the variety of answers/the answers themselves, as they kept me amused. So thank you for participating and humoring my bizarre request.
P.S. Kill = Aladdin (a poor man's Eric), Marry = Li Shang (B. D. Wong!), and Fuck = Eric (obviously.)
