It's rather depressing not having a TV during the Olympics, especially when you're bored senseless from having the summer off work and NBC refuses to stream coverage online (slash I can't sign into my Comcast account...wonder if that has something to do with all of those unpaid bills...). But Buzzfeed has been getting me through the monotony and deprivation. See (and lust after, if you haven't been doing so already): the German male gymnastics team and the Olympics/gay porn quandary. So being the model of productivity that I am now, I've spent the last month and a half catching up on TV shows I've never watched. I include among the three loves of my life Lola, retail therapy, and HBO Go, but I've only just gotten around to watching Game of Thrones. I had watched the first episode at my parent's house last year, but I took it for some over-sexed (WHAT?? this is a foreign concept) fantasy p.o.s. and decided not to continue watching. I attribute these feelings to the fact that I was multitasking (a.k.a. looking for shit to buy online, per the usual) and was viewing the pilot with my siblings, thus breaking my cardinal rule of never watching HBO dramas with family (it's a rule for an obvious reason). LONG STORY SHORT: if sexing a photo was possible, this would be the one I'd choose.
And Iwan Rhoen's joining for season 3?! Bless my stars, the casting directors of True Blood may have met their match.
Though I will say this has been the summer of premium gossip, and I've been reveling in that. First Katie Holmes, now the Twihards. I don't want to wish ill on anyone (a total lie), but I hope that scandals come in threes. For my maniacal, pathetic, self-centered amusement. And because I'm running out of TV shows.
have you finished game of thrones yet? the first season was totally oversexed. i think the second one is more toned down. there's still quite a bit of sex, but there are far fewer gratuitous boob shots.

ReplyDeleteand I think what did it for me that first episode was the butt sex in that last scene with my siblings all around...it was like when I went to see "Superbad" with my then-teenage brother and every other shot was a picture of a penis or allusion to one...MAD FUCKING UNCOMFORTABLE.
I'm the exact same model of productivity right now, but facing guilt for not trying to find a part-time job before grad school starts. I should enjoy summer while it lasts, right???

ReplyDeleteI totally agree, Ming...and I feel the same way, since I quit my weekend job just before summer started, and if I hadn't done that I would have had at least that to keep my occupied, but whatever...and what are you going to grad school for?? ooooh, and that damn blog...there will be changes afoot with that thing soon!

tots watched GoT during my surgery rotation...y'know...to stay sane err something! fell in love with khal drogo AKA lisa bonet's man candy. always favoring brains over brawn, i've made an exception for jason momoa! enjoy! and jennifer is right--season 2 is way more toned down, for what it's worth. i kind of missed the dirty bits.
ReplyDeleteoh, man, Jade, I totally agree! Jason Momoa was probably the second hottest piece on the show for me, and it killed me what they did to his character...the Khaleesi comes off a little too entitled in the second season without him, meh.
